    Nancy Steele founds the NCSLW

    Nancy Steele founds the National Congress of Sierra Leone Women, the APC's first women's wing. It is the institutional foundation every later women's leader builds on.

    Diana Finda Konomanyi breaks three ceilings

    First woman to head APC regional operations (2010), first woman Minister of Local Government & Rural Development (2012), first woman Minister of Lands, Country Planning & the Environment (2015). A blueprint for women in executive APC roles.

  3. 2023

    GEWE Act becomes law

    Sierra Leone passes the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Act — a 30% gender quota for political candidacy. Women's parliamentary representation jumps from 14.5% (2018) to 30.4% — the highest in the country's history.

    Mariama leads the wing

    Elected APC National Women's Leader in 2025, Mariama leads the women's wing nationally and declares APC women's intent to challenge for the 2028 elections — the latest chapter in a 65-year lineage.
